Abdul Hannan Yoosuf

After obtaining his degree in architecture from the Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, Abdul HannanYoosuf joined the Government of Maldives in 1995. He worked for more than 10 years at the Ministry of Construction and Public Works where he worked on major public sector projects such as government office buildings, schools and hospitals from design to project management; making him a leading figure in the design of healthcare and educational facilities during this period. Later Hannan held the post of Director of Architecture at the Ministry of Construction and Public Infrastructure heading the Construction Industry Development Section till his resignation in 2006.

Apart from working for the Government of Maldives, Hannan was also a founding partner at Group X Graphics and Design Associates Pvt Ltd working with Mohamed Shafeeq (Sappe’), the leading architect in the country. After 10 years of partnership he left Group X in 2002 to set up Hannan Yoosuf Architects.

Through his busy schedule Hannan also devotes some of his time to pursue his love for drawing and painting. He usually has bouts of inspiration after long periods of abstinence. His specialty is pen and ink drawing and pastels. Hannan has exhibited his works in the Maldives and has won national awards.
